MESH project briefing

EnergyPathways has released a detailed project briefing on MESH, a large-scale energy storage hub designed to support the UK’s transition to clean, secure, and flexible power.

Energy storage at scale – 20 TWh of integrated energy storage, supporting the UK’s push for energy security.

Hydrogen & compressed air storage – 400 MW of long-duration energy storage (LDES), potentially the largest in Europe.

Low-carbon flexible power – 700 MW system designed for the transition to carbon-free hydrogen power.

Repurposing infrastructure – Utilising existing offshore gas assets to create a future-proofed energy hub.

Economic & employment impact – Supporting growth investment and a Just Transition for the UK’s skilled offshore workforce.

EnergyPathways remains on track to final investment decision (FID) in 2025, with operations targeted to begin in late 2027.
